About Janet Powers
The founder and president of Expressive Web Solutions and Diva Toolbox, Janet Powers has been a resident of Greater Boston since her childhood in Charlestown, and she maintains deep roots in the community. "Most of my relatives live within thirty miles of my home and I see my family every week," says Janet. "My four best friends from high school are still my best friends today." Her ties to the North Shore have helped her build her successful businesses through word of mouth, and it is a testament to her success that she was nominated for 2008 North Shore Businesswoman of the Year.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a degree in marketing, Janet began her career at several Boston companies before joining Fidelity Investments in 1994 as a financial analyst. Over seven years she was promoted to client service manager managing a staff of twelve business analysts responsible for the delivery of best-of-class service to Fidelity’s HR and payroll clients. She then moved to Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company as a senior project manager before returning to Fidelity Employer Services Company. In 2005 Janet became program management consultant at Fidelity Investments Brokerage Company, but after only a few months was promoted to vice president, solution delivery / program management office at Fidelity Investments Life Insurance Company.
In January of 2008 Janet took her wealth of business experience and struck out on her own, founding Expressive Web Solutions. The company quickly became a regional leader in providing web-based solutions for a wide variety of businesses, and Janet used her ability to connect with people to put her growing business on the map. While building Expressive Web Solutions, Janet was also laying the groundwork for a dynamic new web destination designed for working women - Diva Toolbox™. Launched in July 2008, Diva Toolbox™ has quickly become a powerful voice created by and for a growing audience of engaged and savvy women. With the motto, "Within you lies the ability to do anything. Find it," Diva Toolbox™ is a welcoming community for women who want to share and travel the professional journey together.
Janet is active in the Boston-area business scene, and is a popular speaker on topics that include creating a website, blogging, social media, and entrepreneurship. "I strive to give 120 percent to everything that I do," says Janet. "I have been blessed with terrific mentors who have helped me advance in my career, and I believe in volunteering as a way of giving back." With Janet Powers, the sky’s the limit, and she will no doubt continue to put her talents to work for the benefit of her community.
