Monday, June 22, 2009 Lehla Eldridge
Lehla Eldridge studied at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama from 1989-1992 along with a host of now famous people. On graduating she was awarded a scholarship by Twentieth Century Fox to study theatre in South Africa. Her love for South Africa did not leave her as she went back to write The South African Illustrated Cookbook. She traveled around South Africa in a hire car with a paint box, pen and notebook and wangled her way in to people’s kitchens. The Cookbook is now on its sixth print run and has also been translated in to Dutch.   She went on to live on a fruit farm with her husband, ran and owned a restaurant and had three children all in three years. This led her to taking time out for her sanity to produce a book called The Lovely Book for Wonderful Women. It is a book celebrating wonderful women and is written with humour and insight in to what makes women laugh and feel good.   She now lives in South Africa with her husband and three children.  To learn more, visit www.lovelybooks.co.za or email her at:  info@lovelybooks.co.za

Thursday, June 18, 2009 Caroline Cheshire
Caroline Cheshire enjoyed a successful marketing career in the UK, and Holland  before moving  to the US where her ‘perfect’ life was challenged.  In one year she suffered two miscarriages, added twins to her family of two daughters and was told she had Thyroid cancer.   At the same time, her husband was struggling to make his start-up company a success.  What Caroline learned was that very few people know how to handle the situation when a friend's life takes a turn for the worst.  At first she was angry that people didn’t reach out.  Then she turned that disappointment into helping and guiding people to do better.  “Most people play it safe with flower arrangements, which are lovely in ones and twos.  But after my first miscarriage, the delivery man asked if it was my birthday.  I was sitting in a room of flowers but had never felt so alone”.  Then a visitor she hardly knew opened the door to healing, which caused Caroline to think long and hard about what that person had done ‘right’.  She followed that experience by completing a counseling course at a local college, and then turned her mission of into www.healingbaskets.com.  Her hope is that Healing Baskets will give a person something, whether gifts, words or just the courage to reach out.  Knowing that a friend gets it, understands even a little of what you’re going through makes that journey a little less scary, a little less alone.   That’s why she started healingbaskets.com.  "No one should have to go it alone.”
