My personal career makeover...
My professional history is a prime example
of what it looks like to make over a career. My resume includes titles
like classroom teacher, administrative assistant, employment
coordinator, and principal e-learning designer over a 15-year span.
I’ve worked in New York’s financial district, for a Fortune 500
company, and a global top ten software development company.
As I look back over the last 4 years, it
has been an amazing ride – especially as a single mother. During the
last four years of my corporate life I more than doubled my starting
salary by reinventing myself to get into the industry and job that I
knew would be a great fit for my skills and interest. I also made sure
that I chose companies and bosses that would allow me to advance.
Here’s a habit you want to develop: if
you don’t know find out. Simple right? But how often are you aware that
there’s something that you don’t know, and instead of following up, you
just let it go. There is that other place of not knowing what you don’t
know. And that’s when it’s time to call in the reinforcements –
mentors, colleagues, family members, peers who have gotten to a place
where you aspire to be. But what if you don’t have that? Not to say
that your family and friends aren’t loving and have well wishes for
you, they just simply may not have the resources and insight to get you
to the next level. This is where coaching comes in.
The success I experienced with my coach,
inspired me to launch my own coaching practice. The career coaching
services I offer are based on my own experience of successfully
climbing the corporate ladder and the training I received from the
International Coaching Academy.
One of my core values is that in order for
work to be fulfilling – it has to be about more than a paycheck. I am
passionate about helping women discover, pursue and excel in their
professional passion. Bottom line – I love to see people succeed. And
what could be better than the privilege of helping them do it!
