For the last 7 years, I have helped other small
business owners with support in areas such as contact management,
client follow-up, on-line registration, desktop publishing, e-zine
development and web site design/maintenance just to name a few. I truly
understand the importance of building relationships with clients to
help them further their business.
Before I
started my own business, I worked in the corporate world at various
jobs. One job I had was working in the trauma department at a
university hospital. The office was on the ground floor but the windows
in the building were high up so you couldn't see out of them and the
office was broken in to dark cubicles. Not only was the work I did
depressing, hearing of all the trauma stories, but the office
surroundings played in to this feeling of hopelessness.
I
ended up quitting that job and vowed that I would never work in that
type of office space again. Jump ahead a few years to my business, I
always made sure that my office was a fun, expressive place to be. I
would surround myself with things I love but I did find myself being
drawn to that typical cubicle type of office furniture. Also, because I
worked virtually never meeting with my clients in-person, I found
myself isolated. Even though I didn't work in a dungeon environment, it
certainly felt that way being so isolated.
One
day I was sitting at my desk feeling grateful that I no longer had to
work in a cubicle or a dark and dungeon like office but yet wanting to
connect with other business owners. It got me to thinking, "I wonder
what other women do to decorate their office and make the space their
own?"
The next step in my journey has been
my incredible fascination with entrepreneurship especially when it
comes to women owned businesses. Combining this with my love of
decorating and journalism and Sheic Space was born. I get to meet some
of the most amazing women business owners and I get to see how they
decorate their space.
My desire is that you
will find inspiration as you review the profiles of these powerful
women who stepped out to explore their own passion and decided to be
Sheic along the way!
