Annie McKee, Ph.D. is the
co-founder and managing director of the Teleos Leadership Institute. She was selected by Business Week as one of the Top 100 Leaders of 2005,
and has authored a series of groundbreaking books on leadership.
Born in England, Annie spent her childhood in Ithaca, New
York. Graduating from high school at 16, she skipped college and took off for
California, and later Hawaii, where she had three children, worked in community
organizing, and struggled on public assistance. At 28, she resolved to change
her life. She enrolled at a community college and then Chaminade University. Juggling
family responsibilities and classwork, she graduated summa
cum laude. Annie took her children
to Cleveland, where she earned a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior at Case
Western Reserve University.
With her friend and business partner Fran
Johnston, Annie formed Teleos Leadership Institute, a consulting firm with the
mission to develop resonant leadership and dynamic organizations. The firm
advises and coaches executives from a wide range of industries, and helps them
to become values-based leaders and to achieve organizational transformation.
Annie has co-authored two groundbreaking books on
leadership, Primal
Leadership (with Daniel Goleman and
Richard Boyatzis) and Resonant Leadership (with Richard Boyatzis). Her latest
book, Becoming
a Resonant Leaderwas published in March, 2008. She also serves as Adjunct
Professor at the Graduate School of Education at Penn, and teaches at the
Wharton School’s Aresty Institute of Executive Education.
