Proverbs 31:28-29 Her children rise up and call her blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied); and her husband boasts of and praises her, [saying], Many daughters have done virtuously, nobly, and well [with the strength of character that is steadfast in goodness], but you excel them all.
Again, to be a Proverbs 31 Woman implies that you've done some hard work. It isn't impossible to be a Proverbs 31 Woman, but it does require a commitment to be good and practice at being good. As a reward for this commitment, those of you who are wives and mothers will be praised by your husbands and children. Those of you who are not wives and mothers, but desire to be so, can look forward to receiving this praise from your husband and children in the future. In the meantime, you'll find that others who are dear to you are singing you similar praises.
When we read that her children rise up and call her blessed, we may want to take this for granted. We tend to assume that everyone speaks well of their mothers. However, this is not the case. Many people speak negatively about their own mothers calling them everything but a "child of God." As shameful as this is, they generally do so because they did not receive the nurturing that they should have received from their mothers. So, to have your children call you blessed is an honor and a testament that you have done a good job in raising them.
To have your husband boast and praise you is also a testament that you are a good wife. In fact, your husband considers you to be an excellent wife, for he says, "...you excel them all." The Bible says an excellent wife (i.e., prudent, understanding, wise, sensible) is from the Lord. (See Prov. 19:14). Only God working through you will enable you to be an excellent wife and for that matter, an excellent mother. To be effective, we must be yielded to the Lord. This means that there shouldn't be any area of our lives that God can't "boss."
In other words, if Jesus is not Lord of all (everything in our lives), then he is not Lord at all. Let Him not only be Savior, but also Lord. Let Him work through you so that your children, husband, and all those dear to you will treat you as though you are the "best thing since sliced bread." As a Proverbs 31 Woman, you are!
